How unbearable is a 40c degree weather (Qatar)?
I've never experienced much of a warm weather (I live in Canada), and I wanted to visit some family in Qatar in August because that's the only time my studies will allow me to, but I heard that the weather gets very very warm there during that time. Is it really intolerable? Will I not be able to go to any beaches? Should I not go in August at all? Any opinions and advice is welcome.

July/August and September are the worse months in the Gulf Region weather wise. But there are ways to beat the heat. Visiting the beach is a waste because the Gulf is no refreshment at all. Only cooled pooles will do. Use a Sun lotion with a very high SF, have your head covered, drink a lot and stay in the shade. You'll still get a nice sun tan. Avoid the sun between 12 am and 3 pm. Wear mostly clothes of natural materials like cotton and clothes should fit loose. Don't worry to much because all buildings (malls, restaurants, shopping centres, appartments, etc.) have air condition. Mostly it's not the heat that gets people, it's the humidity. Visiting family, you should not worry about anything, they hopefully will take care of you. Please enjoy your vacation, you won't regret it.

July~Sep are humid months specially in coastal areas. But some times there is fog at night /early morning which helps cool things down. There are days which are not as bad and days that make you feel you are standing in a grill if you go outside for 5 minutes noon time. (probably solar energy will be the next big thing in the gulf after oil) one of the reasons some people find it hard to cope with the heat is because when they feel hot they go and have cold drinks / ice cream , which actually makes them sweat even more thus feeling worse when it is humid. The proper thing to do is to drink tea (warm or hot , but not cold/Iced tea). Not just because it prevents sweating much that way , but also because tea acts as a body coolant ; much like a coolant does in a car engine. @ h , i see that "Me" has already made the "thumbs down" rounds ..LOL

im surprised that u havent experienced this in canada but i guess it depends where u live my brother lives in toronto they have very hot summer and very cold winter, anyway its something u get used to, everywhere will be air conditioned and u will be able to go out early morning late afternoon /evening to the beaches . i lived there 12 yrs and we were used to it . if its the only time u can go then go and dont worry about it. good luck and have fun
