While living in Qatar , will it be safe to travel without security, is there a dress code per say?
I have been considered for employment, but have very little knowledge of a Qatari lifestyle, especially being an American non Muslim. What are some of the details I should know regarding how to conduct myself in public, and is it safe to be able to shop or go to activities such as sporting events or to play golf.

Like the UAE and Oman, Qatar is a very saft country and no security needed. No special dress code required beside: swim wear at the beach, otherwise "modest". Means, Shorts and Tank Tops shouldn't be worn in malls and restaurants. Never drive under the influence of alcohol or fall around in public being drunk and never take a picture of a woman without her permission. Also showing "the finger" can have consequences. I assume you will live in a compound and find friends fast who will introduce you to the Qatari lifestyle. h is right.. i would like to add that the alcohol tolerance while driving is zero... you shouldnt drive AT ALL if you have alcohol. and don't be offensive... I have a coworker -english- who showed the finger to another guy while driving, and the police contacted him and he had to go to court for being indecent or something like that... otherwise you should b ok...
