How safe is living in Qatar for my wife and I?
We are americans and I have a great opportunity with my company, but it means moving to Qatar for two years.

if you are going to Doha, don't worry, its nothing like Baghdad... the people are friendly and alot of them actually speak english, i visited there once. and it is the richest country in the world...

Very safe if you have an American bodyguard with you provided by the employer or if you are a Muslim yourself and you can relate culturally to Muslim subjects under you. Check your employer's Arab employer what the motive is why they are hiring an American? Follow rules of the country especially women wearing headress in public. Level yourself with them and not the other way around.

Qatar is a very safe place for expats , I am living here for the pat 10 years, though I am not an Americian, there are no known cases of attacks on americans or westeners. Very frinedly people. You need to respect their culture. But unlike Saudi Arabia, Western Women dont have to cover thier head . Only thing is Short dresses are not allowed in public.Women are treated with respect. Weather is very hot from May to October. You can make a lot of money everything is provided by the company like house, car, Childrens education, air ticket, medical benifits etc. You need to pay only for your food. No much social activities. But most International companies got their own recreational facilities. Good Luck.
