Safe for Americans to live in Qatar?
I will be visting Doha Qatar soon to visit my dad and was wondering is it actually safe? Im wondering because of all the war issues in the neighboring countries, and not many people actually like Americans in the middle east...SO would it really be safe to be there? Also, Is it true its not acceptable to wear short skirts/ shorts? or anything showing your shoulders?

everything u say is true and to be honest, no one likes Americans anymore whether its because of their religion or just our "disrespect" so i wouldnt think its safe

It's safe in Doha. Only Bahrain is not advisable to travel to. Be respectful on Friday's not wearing revealing clothes. Skirts and shorts are allowed on beach, but advisable not to wear them in on the streets

Qatar is the safest country in the Middle East. Also no wars going on here and there was a turmoil in Bahrain and some small demonstrations in Saudi and Oman only. The dress code is easy to follow: swim wear at the beach/pool only and otherwise "decent" depending where you go. Decent means, shoulder and knees should be covered. You will find out that coverage of your body will feel comfortable anyway because you either get burned when outside or you freeze when visiting places with ac. I guess if Doha wouldn't be safe, your dad wouldn't work there and have his daughter coming over, right?:)) Enjoy your vacation!

it is safe and all the revolutions going on in the neighboring countries have no affect on Qatar whatsoever. It's not acceptable to wear such short clothes because it's a conservative muslim country, and when you go there you'll notice women covered up in head scarvess and long black garments as a form of modesty. You're not required to dress like them at all, but it would be nice if you covered your shoulders and knees. I hope you have a pleasant time in Doha.
